Ongoing research by the faculty and residents of the UC San Francisco-East Bay Program covers a wide spectrum of clinical and basic surgical sciences. For the residents, research is a centerpiece of the program. Upon completion of the PGY III year, top UCSFEB residents are offered the opportunity to pursue basic science and clinical research in laboratories of prominent surgical investigators throughout the United States.
