The Department of Surgery at the Alameda County Medical Center, Oakland, CA serves an umbrella for Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Urology, Orthopedic Surgery and Podiatry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Dentistry.
The UCSF-East Bay Surgery Program addresses a broad spectrum of surgical diseases and problems. Six clinical sections or services, each with its own area of clinical focus and expertise, provide state-of-the-art care in all the areas of general and subspecialty surgery.
The UCSF-East Bay Elective Surgery Service manages general surgical problems, including gastrointestinal malignancies, surgical diseases of the endocrine and hepatobiliary systems, and breast disorders, to name but a few. The UCSF-East Bay program also provides Vascular Surgery services that incorporate a busy non-invasive diagnostic vascular laboratory.
The UCSF-East Bay Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Service (TACS) provides comprehensive trauma surgery coverage for Northern Alameda County, and is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, emergency medicine specialists and others who form the core of the Trauma Services at the Alameda County Medical Center.
The UCSF Blue Surgery Service consists of peripheral vascular surgery, and breast care.
The UCSF Surgical Critical Care Service coordinates and oversees the management of patients whose high injury or disease severity mandates admission to the 20-bed Intensive Care Unit.
